So why the plastic bag counter????

Well....during internship I came across this video while doing some lessons on the 3 R's and it made me think twice about all of the plastic I use everyday.

Take a look:



The students I was teaching were somewhat traumatized by this video and we ended up doing a bit of research on plastic bag use...

It is estimated that polyethelyne bags take 1000 years to break down.
It is estimated that 500 billion- 1 trillion plastic bags are used each year.
It is estimated that 100,000 marine animals like whales, fish, seals and turtles are killed by plastic bags worldwide, every year.
